IN SEARCH OF GOD

There is great sadness in the world today.  It seems that not a day goes by without hearing of yet another tragedy. A policeman or policewoman is injured or killed in the line of duty; another soldier is shot by a supposed ally or blown to pieces while carrying out their duty, for their homeland, but also while trying to protect people in a foreign land, so that these people may have a better life.

‘Schoolies’ has become a terrifying ordeal for parents. Our children, because at seventeen they still are children, go off to some exotic foreign country to celebrate their coming of age; ‘Rites of Passage’ some would call it. Every weekend more young people are killed, maimed or kill innocent parties while demonstrating the combination of youthful inexperience and too much alcohol plus being able to drive a car. This is a potential recipe for disaster.

Yes there is enough sadness to go around. It’s all part of living in this world; living the modern life; living today with all its blessings and its curses.

I feel sadness today because of the onslaught of truly sad news. This knowledge heralds an awareness that we are in danger of losing sight of ‘GOD’ whatever or whomever we perceive ‘our God’ to be.

Our children are killing themselves in cars and on motorcycles or with overdoses of drugs. Out of control street fighting, using fists, boots, knives and guns is in danger of becoming so commonplace that we all starting to accept the unacceptable. Bullying is out of control in schools, regardless of what the Education Department would have us believe. Always remember that where a union is involved these days, politics is lurking in the shadows and they always have a political agenda to take care of.  But enough of that, as you should be aware of my views and feelings when it comes to political ‘interference’ by now. Political interference has polluted our children’s schools and has almost crippled police work in some vital areas. (My views entirely.)

In recent times we have seen, once again, the ugliness of the ‘Churches of Christianity’ trying to tidy up what we all know cannot and must not be tidied up, (my apologies to those who still find hearing the truth uncomfortable but as I said before on many other occasions, the Truth sets us free.)

The Christian Church is losing ground all over the world as religions like Buddhism, Islam and Hinduism gather more and more followers every day. The fact that the Christian Church is having difficulty in recognising and dealing with paedophiles within their ranks is the very reason why I think people, particularly the young, are drifting away from this religion, the religion most taught in the western world to date.

The western world started to become aware of other religions during the fifties and then later in the seventies to a much greater degree. This happened during the fifties because after the Second World War there was a new awareness of things more global and during the seventies because of the ‘Hippie Revolution’

It was during the seventies that I became interested, fascinated and entertained by all that was deemed religious or spiritual. Like many others at that time, I was experimenting with all manner of mind altering substances and looking for experiences that would give me a better understanding of myself and therefore life itself.

The years rolled by and my thirst and hunger for the non material grew. I read voraciously, seeking new streams of knowledge to quench that thirst and found myself in the company of those who could offer me ‘soul food’ to help me to satisfy that hunger.

My Spiritual being emerged and I became a happier and more settled man because of it. I would not say that all of life’s burdens magically disappeared. Life seemed to get tougher if anything but I was soon to realise that this was necessary to truly be living the ‘Life’ and to experience it. Life was not meant to be easy. It is meant to be hard so that we learn and grow, but then you know that’s what I believe already….don’t you.

If we lose all contact with the Spiritual World we only live half a life and the sadness that so many feel today is purely about living half a life. ‘What does it profit a man if he gains the world but loses his soul?’ a passage in the Christian Bible asks. We may have all that the world can give us but if we do not have some ‘God’ in our lives then we are left wanting in the same way as if we don’t eat or drink. We are left hungry and thirsty.

‘They’, not the schools but those Godless, faceless people who work so hard at running our lives for us, have decided that we and our children do not need spiritual guidance. I mention at this stage that those same people are largely Atheists, hmm our Prime Minister is an atheist, and anyway I am here to tell you my brothers and sisters that a man or woman who is without ‘God’ is not a total being.

We must start telling our children the truth again and that truth is that they have a right to ‘their’ God.  They need ‘their’ God and without having that vital component they will be and are left wanting and that is where much of their sadness comes from. They hunger and thirst but they do not know how to quench that thirst or sate that hunger and moreover they don’t know why.
